Huang Kaiwu

    Huang Kaiwu was born in Sichuan province. He is the director of the Chinese Artists Association of Sichuan. Kaiwu started practicing calligraphy in the mid 1970s, and studied from a famous calligrapher Chen Wugou, two famous painter Li Daoxi and Liu Shengdao. Many of Kaiwu's artworks has been published and reported in newspapers and magazines. He has been in solo and group shows across the country and awarded many times. In 1993, he was invited to Chinese and Foreign Celebrities Painting and Calligraphy Exhibitions where his calligraphy and paintings were awarded "Outstanding Creation Award" and the first prize. Some of his artworks were incorporated in the "China's First Sino-Foreign Yongmei Poetry Calligraphy Great Exhibition Collection". His artwork "the First Spring Blossom" and "Auspicious Figure" were incorporated in "Modern Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Collection".
